Tunnel Vision

So my dog has this obsession with his bones. I don't even know when this started - just recently he has become extremely obsessed. A couple of weeks ago, Peanut was gnawing on his bone....I decided to grab a pair of pants and I looped his body right into a pant leg.... and you know what he did? Nothing. LOL

I've decided that I have the sweetest people in my life. Every day this week I've gotten a present . I got the above today as a " Good Luck " gift before I go to Toronto. It feels so wonderful to be thought of. ;)

Heritage Days...

Continuation of catch up... - Below are pics of Heritage Days in Edmonton - I went with my mom and her hubby Yvon  :)

This is a pic of our bus ride there - which btw my mom totally ripped off the bus driver by a good 4 dollars - not on purpose of course.

So at Heritage Festival we should be embracing new foods and trying new stuff...somehow I don't really think this constitutes as new... ha ha ha

When Yvon sees something he wants - he kind of gets tunnel vision and becomes obsessed. Yvon saw someone with a coconut and his mission became our mission.. find the coconut!!!....( which btw is totally an asian thing.. LOL )

Me and my momma....eating another Asian thing... bwahahah omg we did not take advantage of the different foods at all. LOLOLOL

On a side note I received the following gifts today - totally made my day :)

One of my staff actually made this for me, framed it, and sent it in interbanch mail...LOL - so sweet

Don't laugh - but these pens are a hot commodity. I actually requested these pens for my ten year anniversary with the bank.... I LOVE THEM! Thanks to those who made it happen. bwhahaha

I just gotta add another side note over here.... Last few days the same tune has been playing in my head. When I mean tune, I mean thought/theme. I've recently told my gf to fight for what she wants. When I say fight - I mean fight for love / possibility at a chance in love - fight for your man. Put yourself out there!! Even though the risk to get hurt is great, the chance at love is so much greater. I recently watched the movie Something Borrowed - and it sent the exact same message.  A lot of us can be very passive when it comes to love. Or even things that we want in general. There are a lot who would rather give to others before they give to themselves. Because of this - they end up on missing out on great opportunities. I say embrace it all - and just friggen go for it. Whatever it is - whomever it is. Then at least you can go through life knowing you tried - vs. wondering what if...

So here's a toast - to taking chances and fighting for what we want and having passion for life :)

Today marks our traditional -promotional Run for the Cure day. At our branch we have pink lemonade, coffee, and we're all wearing pink tshirts with jeans. I'm doing a lot of lobby management and while it is very busy it's for a fantastic cause. Traditionally all branches have to wear a Pink Tshirt or a Run For the Cure T-shirt....here's mine:

She says she doesn't know why ppl keep staring at her...Did I mention she's a huge fan?? LOL - LOVE IT.

TV Drama

So last night my close gf and I were discussing the show - The Bachelorette - while watching it. Admittedly at first we were kind of hating on the main prize (Ashley), then our conversation took a turn and we began having deep discussions about love and relationships etc etc. It was such a good conversation and we ended up talking for a good 3 hours. We discussed how what might work for one couple may not work for another couple, and we also discussed how "connections " worked. In any case - Thank You so much for the intellectual convo. I enjoyed it very much and I really needed it!!

On a side note - she did bring up something from her culture with regards to symbolism and what it meant to have a butterfly on your window sill. ( Of course this is between me and her ). Now what I'm about to say is a little creepy - but when I got home today I noticed a moth hanging out on my window. He ended up hanging out on my window for at least 5 hours - and I showed my friend. We both found it a little creepy since we were discussing the butterfly and she told me the symbolism with the moth. In any case it is a good omen.... but it's still creepy!!

 I'm taking it as a good sign that I really needed....and I'm so happy it happened.

Woah - That's Freaky

So I was texting my gf Linda last night while making supper. Linda and I have known each other for about 7 years. One thing that really connected us was our similiarities in our past and basically our life experiences with friends and family. As well, we like a lot of the same things and do a lot of the same things. I have no idea what it is - but it always freaks us right out. Even our birthdays are only 6 days apart. In any case - what I realized about Linda is that no matter how much time has passed where we do not speak with each other - it's always exactly the same when we talk - and when we talk there is always something that is very similar that we find about each other that we've done or purchased. Last time we spoke (prior to last night - a few weeks ago) I found out we both purchased the same Hello Kitty phone case for our cell phones. This was our conversation last night:

Linda: " I got bangs again - I got that short hairstyle like Katie Holmes "

Colleen: " Omg - are you serious? U mean like a shorter version of this? "

(Keep in mind I only started recently wearing my bangs down like this)

Linda : "Haha Yup!"

Colleen: " Ok for once I'd like to talk to you where we both haven't done the same thing"

Linda: " hahaha ummm I like dodgeball? "

LOL - yes I know we're losers  :P

It's all about the small gestures....

I've come to the conclusion recently that it's the little things that help us get through the days or help cheer us up. My coworker got this cookie and he decided to send a picture of it to me. This cookie wasn't even gifted to me but it still made me smile :)

It's the small gestures that show we care in everyday life and they are so very very important.

So here's a goal for you all - do something nice for your significant other or your friend or family member. You will be surprised how much of a difference it can make - especially if they are feeling down / or are just having a rough day.

Last night...

For the life of me I could not sleep!! My eyes were wide open till at least 2:00 am. I decided to fill out this cute little journal that my gf got for me. It's actually pretty cute - makes you lists items of a topic that they give you. Here's a couple of pages I filled out:

This is a picture of a miracle flower. Okay maybe not really a miracle. It was becoming wilted when we took the flowers off, so we thought it was toast. I recut the stem and stuck it in water - and within about 20 minutes it was full bloom again.

I went and saw Alyssa on Friday - she's getting so tall!!! My fave part was feeding her :)

My bf made this for me for dinner :)) - sooo good!!
